BlobsWhen tying blobs what is your prefered tailing material? I personally prefer using crystal flash instead of marabou, reason being that with the small length of the tail movement is hardly a priority imo.
Also what is a blob a representation of? a egg, daphnia or a bait fish, or are they just used to trigger the aggressive instinct of the fish?

I've never actually tied a blob, in fact I don't even think I've ever even fished with one. I have one in my fly box but I think it came in a bulk pack of flies my dad gave me.
I've heard it said that they represent daphnia but I personally think it's just the instinct of the fish.

Thats my view of it also Gary.
I did think it was a daphnia representation at first then I thought about all the different colours they are tied in...nothing like the green and orange daphnia I have experienced.

I think they are more of an attractor pattern.
When pulling them from the boat you will get a lot of follows, if fished on the top dropper.
Best combo is to have a nymph on the middle dropper for when the trout turns away from the blob.
