Reversed parachute black buzzers buzzing in midair

My excuse is I stuffed my back a couple of weeks ago and the cat was sick and the parrot won't talk to me....  any old excuse..

but all the same, my flies were posted this morning,
I'm away back to my bed...
did I say back.. OUCH..FFS

Chris you have PM.. feel free to post link.

Thanks in anticipation, hope the flies work for you, fish a heavy tippet so you don't lose it before you wear it out. 5-6 lb, not fluoro, which would maybe drag it down
Grease the hackle, degrease the tippet, give them time to turn down.

Thanks, Chris; thanks, all

aw the best fae o'er the sheugh,
Roy, a man from Armoy

Good stuff Roy,
How did the trip to Finland go?

Sweden trip

Wayne, it was Sweden, next country along.. left a bit.

It was good fun, we got the finest reception, great hotel, excellent food, good beers and had a fun day flytying.
As usual there were a few raised eyebrows in the spectators, but then that's what I'm there for - not for my stunning good looks apparently Smile
The good looking tyers were Lief Ortenholm and Johan Klingberg.
These young guys have got it in the palm of their hand.  Some talents there.

A dinner was held where the local club treated us to another excellent feast and a filmshow and tying session by Johan. As I don't speak more than a couple of words of Swedish that was entertaining and informative ( the information being that I should learn another few languages Smile  )

The day after we had a day's fishing on a wee stream that is generally unknown and totally out of bounds, a couple of hours up the country. All good stuff. As the temperature was not high ( about 5C in the air, which is about six degrees higher than normal for the season, there were no trout to be seen, just running water but it was great to get a look around the place and we noticed a few baetis coming off, so the stream appears healthy enough.
We took all the warm gear along and only used the stuff I would wear at home; it was a lot less chilly in the valley than downwind on a lake. In fact we saw ice only twice, once in a 'puddle' in the middle of a bright sunny day in the city and when we went fishing there was an inch in a ditch, so we broke that through to clean the boots in the water after we walked out.

Whereas we always get warned that everything is SO expensive, it's no more so than living in a hotel in London. Then, who would want to live in a hotel in London!
All luxuries (for luxuries- read poisons eg. tobacco; alcohol) are about 20 -- 30% more than here but if you can forego getting ratted and smoke less, and avoid the three quid doughnuts at the airport, no probs.
Take your own liquorice papers along.
The beer is expensive but they specialise in making it strong. The local ales are fine indeed and about 6%. There was a sale in one of the shopping centres and Levis were 25 quid, cool. Don't do looking for bargains though, we just struck lucky.

Brought back some reindeer and moose to eat, so that was great. I do like Bambi, yum free range food.

If we can spare the time, we got invited back in July, but finding the time could be a problem. I only get so much holiday a year and I'm going home for a fortnight in late July, so that kinda rules out ten days in Sweden at tthe beginning of the same month. Instead we will save that trip for later, we know we are always welcome back.

So in a word - excellent...  and in a phrase - well worth repeating.

If you ever get a chance to go up there, do it - and remember
-  that where we come from we are used to folks that tak the mickey...
Taks a micke  is Swedish for thanks a million - and you will be fine
Wink

I'll be back.

Then I knacked my slipped disc carrying my bag upstairs when we got home

Sounds like a top spot Roy,
Now reindeer is something I eat on a regular basis now that we have an IKEA in Belfast.
Hope the back recovers mate.

Ikea = good place for food

That reminds me of the bloke who tried the G-Plan diet...
reckoned it was great until he got to the suite...
