Hi Wayne,
I have fished the Corrib in May.
The fish can be caught on all usual wet & dry flies aswell as the dap.
A bog standard GOB ( golden olive bumble) fished on the point with a octopus & a golden telephone fly is a good cast. Another good fly is a green peter with a pheasant tail wing, with body hackles of golden olive & red game.
If you try fishing Two wulffs on the Blind this can be very good.
Also at this time of the year don't forget the buzzers
I have pasted two flies below for your info.

Thank BVFF
Have been tying wulffs lately and hoping these will be my escape from jail cards.
I have a few new may fly patterns I wish to try, the only downside to them is that they are fan-wings so a few spools of tippet & leader will be taken along.
Did you have a lot of success in May BVFF?

Yes I caught plenty of small trout around the 12" mark drifting oround the shallows near greenfields.
The Black wulff is also worth a try after the mayfly hatch. Even if there are no mayflies present.
As you said earlier, the only drawback of large winged flies is that they spin your leader into a mess, just like Klinkhamers do to light tippet when I am river fishing.
Pity there is no such thing as a clear floating micro swivel
Now theres an idea
