LAGANSIDE FLY DRESSERS SOCIETYI act as the Secretary/ Treasurer of the above mentioned Society. The Flytying season commences again on Tuesday 4th September in Workshop 1 of the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn 7pm - 9pm. The Society is now entering its 10th year and caters for all standards of fly tying. The tying nights usually follow a set pattern, The fly for the evening is demonstrated by some one (usually me) showing all the tips and techniques, this usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Then the good bit Kits containing all the required materials are then handed out and everyone sits down to tie the set pattern. If you want to bring along your own materials its no problem. The whole evening is fairly relaxed and enjoyable.

Sept 4- Black Pennell Sept 18- Ballinderry Black Oct 2- Magenta Bumble Oct 16- Holographic Buzzer Nov 6- Peter Dunne (Demonstration from one of the worlds best tiers) Nov 20- Greenwells Glories (Spiders, Winged Wet, Split Wing Dry) Dec 4- Pheasant Tail Nymphs Dec 18- E J Malone (Demonstration by Ted only 90 this year!!!!) Mayflies. Tea, Coffee and Mince Pies will be served Jan 8- Haslam Sea Trout Version Jan 22-Frankie McPhillips (Demonstration to be confirmed) Feb 5- CDC and Elk and some other Deer Hair Techniques Feb 19- Demonstration to be confirmed Mar 4- Fully Dressed Salmon Fly ( Reduced Pattern with a married wing) Mar 18- Mystery Night and also Jumble Sale I will not be there in person until the 18th the first night on the 4th will be in the more than capable hands of Joe Stitt. Maximum numbers have now been reached. I will be unable to take any further members for this year. Thanks to everyone who has shown an interest in the Society. For your information Peter Dunne will be doing a demonstration on 6 November 7-9pm at the ISLAND ARTS CENTRE LISBURN anyone wishing to attend please let me know I can cater for a few casual observers. I enjoyed the session that I attended but unfortunally due to new work commitnents have been unable to attend any more. Maybe next year will allow me to attend like I planned this year. See you at the BFFi next week. Wayne. |
