Leathemstown reservoirAnyone know anything about this reservoir?
Is it fishable? if so what permits etc are required?

I live in Lisburn, just down the road from this resevoir.
Used to be a DCAL (DANI) water years ago til they withdrew. A club tried to run it a while back I think but gave up. As far as I know it is totally free to fish, unless things have changed again in the last 2 years.
I know some friends fished it regular about 2 or 3 years ago and had excellent sport in the evening around this time of year.
They did say that the excellent fishing only seemed to last a couple of weeks til it went quiet again.
I know there are always cars parked at it on the main airport road any time I drive past it.
Wouldn't fancy fishing into the dark at it myself as there used to be a good chance of either your car (or just its wheels!!) going missing.

I learnt of this ressy the other night when someone asked if I had fished it before. I learnt it was near Stoneyford but could not find any info apart from a few pictures.

I last fished this place 30 years ago - when it was a Department Fly-Only water - and I caught the occasional trout. I read the forum entry and thought I'd give it a try this evening.
Half a dozen v small (2-6 oz) Brownies on a green & partridge goldhead nymph - returned, water level very low, not much surface activity except small trout.
The amazing thing was the amount of litter - I have never seen anything quite like it - discarded beer bottles, cans, line, boxes.... utterly disgusting - and everywhere.
I was delighted to find my car still there when I came back to it.
I don't know who, if anyone, manages the fishing here - I suspect it has fallen into neglect.
Has anyone had any decent sized trout from here recently?

The last i heard it was emptied and everything put into stoneyford.
