Reduce WastageWhen using fritz etc I used to cut a couple of inches from the spool/card and tie in and use as normal, only trouble was I always ended up with a length of fritz etc left over which was to short to use again. If like me you hate to waste stuff this tip could come in handy.
Instead of cutting a length of it and then tying it in, just tie it in still attached to the spool/card, wrap as normal, tie off & then cut it. This way means you use only whats needed and end up with no more bits of material that can not be used for anything.
Another useful tip I now use on my micro straggle fritz is to take it from the card and wrap it onto an empty spool, I then attach the spool to a large bore bobbin holder and use as if I am using thread. I find it gives me more control with my wraps. Afraid it doesn't work with the denser fritz as the tube on the bobbin holder is not large enough.
Happy tying.

great idea wayne i use some older bobbins for neater use for copper wire, flosses and fine silver n gold tinsels
allows for much better control when tying as you have witneded with my improved efforts in fly swap

Thats what the forums all about, swapping ideas for the benefit of all.
I wouldn't call them efforts mate, they are very well tied buzzers, I would be proud of them anyway.

what i do to save materials ,, is to put fritz in a small plastic bag ,, like the bag the fritz comes in, and just feed it out .
Mind you Mr Brown , mentioned today that hes going to ban plastic bags
