Streaking Quill

I present to you my Streaking Quill. The original of this fly Streakin Caddis was tied by Lennart Bergqvist a fantastic Swedish tyer. The difference between his fly and mine is the body, i use quill/Hacklestem and he uses Flyrite. I tie them down to like size 16, nowadays i tie them on Tiemco 103 BL, a great hook by the way.
The body is made of rooster quill and super glue, gives great depth to the body.
I Have had great fishing with it , lies great in/on the surface... a little deeper than the original.. Hope that you find my absolute favourite fly interesting.

Very nice Niklas. I must polish up on my spun deer hair. I take it stripped peacock herl would work as well for the body?

Thanks Beatnik. The hair isnīt spun.. I take a bunchlike the size of 7 mm of diameter, hold it tight over the hook, two loose turns around, then wrap it really tight.. one more turn, then zick zak through the deerhair to the hook eye. Done, easy peasy.. The take your hairdressers skill and cut it into shape..
Offcourse you could use peacock herl, only your own creativity can stop you there. Just donīt forget itīs a caddis you need to build uo the body properly. The hacklestem helps you with building of the body.
Good luck.. feel free to get back to me if you need more info.

Aye, that's what I mean when talking about spun deer hair. I have done it once or tight but haven't been able to get it nice and neat. Practise I suppose. Very Happy
