March, was so- so for me to be honest. My local trout fishery opened today of all days, weather was absolutely horrendous and I couldnt fish.
Only been fishing twice this year due to weather and water levels. All these months waiting for the season to begin and it's turned out to be a major anti-climax for me so far im afraid. Most succesfull fly for me was my first day on river I had a few fish on a brown - stonefly nymph (goldhead).

I haven't caught on the reservoirs yet. At Woodford I had a bit of success with a black pennell and on Friday at Movilla I caught on a bloodworm and a buzzer pattern of my own concoction. I also got broke on a pearl thorax ptn.

March has been pretty dismal for me. Fished the North Wood burn and Killylane a few times and had a few fish. Black goldhead lures and black PTN's were doing the biz on both dams. Fished Woodford and Straid a few times as well with some success. Lets hope the weather is more kind to us in the coming weeks.

i went eight trips in a row without seeing a fish.... nuff said!!
a few sessions where exploritory pike trips, so at least i tried the spots, and can stroke them of the list. The river i fish was high a lot of march, and the northerlies didn't help.
April has been much better, I also was a movilla on friday and had great fun, nice to get a fish again; the river is also starting to produce the goods - even picking up a few fish to the dry! Sweet!
I think next year i'll head somewhere south in March

You weren't the guy fishing from the point on the far side from the lodge?I hit into one of about 6-7 lb but had to let it go as it was foul hooked. I made the mistake of grabbing the fluoro to try and release the fish in the water but it made a run and the line sliced my finger open.

I had some pretty good days on a local river the first to weekends in march catchin wild browns up to 1 1/2lb on size 14 + 12 dark olives but the wind's changed to a cold northerly for the last couple of weeks and between that and the high water i haven't got a big pile of trouting done, Also been to the finn a few times, seen fish caught but haven't bee lucky enough to come across 1 myself but the season's early yet and i have great expectations for the rest of the year.

I was aye. I had one bigger fish about the 5lbs mark. It awsn't in great nick, stumps for fins, but still put up a hard fight. I do like that movilla place, they're pretty free rising and fight hard. Its also close to my work which is a bonus!
