Name? Gareth Morris

How long have you been fishing? Started fishing aged 8 or 9, coarse and pike fishing mainly to begin. Progressed into fly fishing at about 12 and have been hooked for the last 10 years to it.

What types of fishing do you do? Almost dedicated solely to rainbow trout fishing now, dappled with coarse and pike fishing when the mood takes me.

Have you fished abroad? Went marlin fishing when in Gran Canaria, caught a dorado but the marlin remained illusive that day. Also went hand lining in the Maldives, caught numerous tropic fishing, their names escape me now.

What species do you fish for? Rainbow trout but enjoy catching wild brownies whenever possible.

Is there one fish that stands out in all the ones you have caught? My biggest fish to date, 16 ˝ lb rainbow caught in the pitch dark after a long days fishing

Is there one place you would like to fish in the future that you have not yet fished? I would love to fish the larger Irish lakes and also some of the reservoirs in England.

What is your favourite fly & why? I started fly tying about 5 years ago and have enjoyed catching on my own creations ever since. Therefore my favourite fly would be my own version of the apps’ bloodworm, every lake I have visited since its conception it has produced amazing results. I also have a soft spot for the green Montana, simply because I am able to slaughter fish on it and my father finds it impossible to! It was also the fly that brought me my biggest fish.

What's the heaviest fish you've caught (any species)? 16 ˝ lb rainbow, closely followed by a 16 lb pike

Anything else you would like to share (go on dont be shy)? I’ve won the Macmillan cancer relief competition in 2005 and 2006, came 2nd in 2007 but didn’t compete in 2008 up at Tildarg. Some of my proudest achievements in fishing!
