Thank you for helping me to get back in, Wayne. I hope to contribute something of interest from the great plains. _________________ Angler, wouldst thou be guiltless ? then forbear,

A pleasure to help you Howard. Would be great to hear about some of the patterns you use on the great plains and hopefully see if i can put them to use on our own waters. _________________

Thank you Gentlemen,
There is not a lot of fly fishing for trout in Kansas, so travel is usually necessary. The Ozark, Blue Ridge, Great Smokey and Rocky Mountain ranges are all within driving reach, and each requires different angling methods and flies. These are my preferred environments....the small, cold mountain streams.
In Kansas, we fly fish for "panfish" and Largemouth Bass, usually in still water, sometimes Smallmouth Bass in warmer rivers. It is a reasonable diversion, but not my preference. Again, the flies and methods are all together different, especially with the almost constant winds.
Perhaps some small bits of my observations will be of interest. Hereafter, I shall move this discussion to the other boards.
Regards,
Howard Welch
